The Miracle Worker
By William Gibson
Directed by Jo Bean
Set in 1887 this is a heart-warming re-telling of the true story of Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan.
Based on the writings of Annie Sullivan about her experiences teaching Deafblind and mute Helen Keller, The Miracle Worker is one of the critically acclaimed and heart warming stories of our time.
Deafblind and mute young Helen Keller is un-controllable and un-reachable; the whole Keller household is at the mercy of her wild tantrums, until one day she finally meets her match. Annie Sullivan is employed with the task of teaching the un-teachable. Not willing to put up with Helen’s (Ella Wilson and Annabelle Hammond) complete lack of manners, Annie (Jessica Doube) is quick to enforce a routine of discipline and good behaviour. Slowly the mysteries of Helen’s sightless and soundless world are unlocked to reveal the clever little child within.
