PRINCESS KATE AND THE DRAGON

Keep your eye out in the next newsletter for more information on the play in the
park, as auditions will take place in late October.

Princess Kate and the Dragon is written by KAT’s own Lisa Duggan and will be directed by Mary Collie-Holmes. Mary is making a welcome return to the play in the park, a concept that she started back in 2000.

AUGUST CLUB NIGHT
PLANNING, SHAKESPEARE & PLAY READING

Thank you to all of you who participated in the planning evening in August. Thank you to Margaret Walls for organising the planning; Kathi George for directing the well-received play reading of Cliff’s Edge; and Jillian Carpenter for organising two Shakespearean scenes from Twelfth Night (with Dominik Gibbs, Jillian Carpenter, Matt Todd and making his KAT acting debut, Euan Wright) and Romeo and Juliet (with Robin Owen and Jenny Fenwick).

Thanks also to those of you who filled out the questionnaires for the 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations set for 2009.

OBITUARY

Former KAT member, David Lloyd Davies passed away in mid-August after a long battle with cancer. He was an active member of the club during the 1980s and early 90s. Our thoughts are with Alison and the family at this sad time.

THEATRE TERMS

Dark Spot
An area of the stage which the lighting designer has inexplicably forgotten to light, and which has a magnetic attraction for the first-time actor. A dark spot is never evident before opening night.

Lighting Director
Individual who, from the only vantage point offering a full view of the stage, gives the stage manager a heart attack by announcing a play-by-play of everything that’s going wrong!

Stage Right, Stage Left
Two simple directions actors pretend not to understand in order to drive directors crazy. (“No, no, your OTHER stage right!”)

Don’t forget to book your tickets for Ladies Who Lunch.
