KAT CHAT Khandallah Arts Theatre Newsletter August 2005 Club Night, Cochran Hall Tuesday 16 August 7.30pm Planning 2006 Margaret Walls is organising a planning meeting in our August slot. How many productions
should we have next year? Should we have an acting workshop? How
can we encourage new directors? Shall we move our AGM to March? Shall we have
another Shakespeare’s night? Should we make an effort to enter the Festival of
Community Theatre? What could be the theme of our poetry evening? Lots of issues
like these will be discussed and we would appreciate input from you all. July Play Readings Lots of people enjoyed last month’s one acts. Thank you to our three directors,
Paul Langham, Margaret Walls and Glenys Lloyd who made her directing debut with A
Marriage Proposal by Anton Chekhov. Margaret’s reading of Everyman
2002 by Margaret Bremner had also been used as an outreach to great effect
at the Khandallah Presbyterian Church Winter Festival, the Sunday before. Thank you too to Hilary Rutherford for doing lighting and Ross Foubister for sound. Welcome to new members Miko Olliver and Adam Burstall. Both were on stage in July. Successful Audition for Bedroom Farce Director Ian Munro had an excellent response to his audition and the following people have been cast: Marj Lawson and Paul Langham, Jenny Fenwick and Mike Pyefinch, Abie Margetts, Miko Olliver and Damian Reid. There is one male role still to be decided, age 20 – 30. Ring Ian 232 7144 or Margaret Walls if interested. First read through Sunday 14 August 4pm in the hall will be preceded by a production meeting at 3pm in Room1. For this production we have decided to split the PA job up; a person to liaise with the cast by computer, another to prompt and a roster of people to cherish. The prompting role would be ideal for someone who wants to learn how a play is directed, the supper roster people would have the bonus of watching the odd rehearsal of a very funny play and being part of the atmosphere. What would you like to help with? Please ring Margaret W ! We also need some one to manage Front of House and others to be part of the publicity team September 20 New Zealand Poetry Glenys Lloyd (Ph 479 1197) is co- ordinating this club night so contact her if you want
to be involved.
