Princess Kate and the Dragon
This was a most successful production! Special congratulations to Lisa who had the inspiration and led the music and to Mary who interpreted the script. Congratulations to everyone else involved too. Approximately eighteen hundred people came to see Princess Kate and we were thrilled to receive an email from someone new to the area saying how much he and his family had enjoyed the show.
A report is being written for the Wellington City Council, who funded the production,
and an application for next year’s play in the park is already being worked on. It’s working title is ‘The Pirate Project’ and playwright and director are lined up. More later.

April 5/6 Auditions for Major Production - The Miracle Worker by William Gibson
directed by Jo Bean production dates: July 17 – 26
Jo’s audition notice is also enclosed. This promises to be a very exciting production. We have a new young director; a big cast is required with wonderful opportunities for younger children and set, lighting and sound design are all really challenging. If you want to be involved but can’t make the auditions contact Jo or Paul.
April 15 Club Night - An Evening of One Act Plays
Would you like to direct a reading of a one act play? We need 2 or 3 people to direct and if you are really keen you may be able to enter your one act team, fully rehearsed, in the Festival of Community Theatre 23/24 May. The festival will be held in our hall and is being organised by our own Ross F.
Margaret R (details over page)) is organising this club night so contact her NOW.
May 20 Club Night - Full Length Play Reading

October 9 - 18 Announcing the Final Production of the Year - Travels With My Aunt
by Giles Havergal adapted from the novel by Graham Greene directed by Kathi George.
This is a witty, sparkling comedy with unusual casting requirements.
Other activities planned are an evening of music and poetry (November), a circle reading (September), a theatre visit, involvement in the Christmas parade and planning for 2009, our Golden Jubilee Year: a Shakespeare production is top of the list!
NB Our Golden Jubilee will be celebrated on Sunday November 1st 2009.
If you are in contact with former members please let Lisa Duggan know: leprechaun@paradise.net.nz
Another Reminder for the Golden Jubilee Booklet of Reminiscences -
Have you got a story to tell, an amusing anecdote, anything that will enlighten future readers about KAT’s history? Write it down and send it to Margaret R for inclusion in our Jubilee booklet. She’s looking for about half a page (approx. 300 words) for each entry. Put your thinking caps on and get creative – well not too creative – it should be a more or less accurate representation of what you experienced.
