THE MIRACLE WORKER

The Miracle Worker, directed by Jo Bean has now been cast and rehearsals are under way. The cast is: Jessica Doube as Annie Sullivan and Ella Wilson and Annabelle Hammond sharing the role of Helen Keller with Sandra Dryden, Don Quiring, Julian Gibbs, Shelly Reet, Rebecca Middleton, Alexandria Morder, Jack Dryden, Zachary Morder, Holly Hammond, Eowyn Machin, Paul Langham, Matt Todd and Alexander Rodgers.

The crew includes: Olivia McCaskill, Ashley Murray, Matt Todd, Vonnie Wilson, Margaret Robertson, Paul Langham, Ross Foubister, Warwick Janes, Susan Vella, Morris Robertson, Jillian Carpenter, Glenys Lloyd, Jess Doube, Rebecca Middleton, Pollyanna Ferguson and Sylvie Kirkman.

“Two hands meet across a world of darkness… The Miracle begins”

Deaf, blind and unable to speak Helen Keller is uncontrollable and unreachable and the whole Keller household is at the mercy of her wild tantrums until one day she finally meets her match – Annie Sullivan.

Two houses have been presold for Friday 18 July and Thursday 24 July.

Tell all your friends and family to come and to book early!

Thanks to Pataka museum in Porirua for the loan of a water pump for the production – a very important part of the story!

Production dates are: 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 July with a matinee on Sunday 20 July.

CLUB NIGHT – TUESDAY 20 MAY at 7.30pm 

Marj Lawson will be making her directorial debut with a full-length play reading of Ten Tiny Fingers, Nine Tiny Toes by Sue Townsend.

The play is about the fierce and overpowering love that most women feel for their children both born and unborn. It is set in the future in a world where babies are bought and sold and even advertised by a totalitarian government.

The cast are: Sandra Dryden, Robin Owen, Marcus Lawson, Jenny Fenwick, Dave Soper, John Golder and Novena Bridge.

Supper Duty: Anneke Binkhorst, Kevin Boon, Novena Bridge and Kevin Brown. Please come early to put out the chairs and supper things.

APRIL CLUB NIGHT 

The last club night was a wonderfully entertaining night with two very different short play readings. Margaret Robertson directed The Donahue Sisters by Geraldine Aron, staring Joy McLeod, Jillian Carpenter and Stathia Golding. Susan Vella directed Darlings, You Were Wonderful by Derek Lomas with Barbara Woods, Sue Weich, Marie Thomson, Sandra Dryden, Robin Owen and Lisa Duggan.

50TH GOLDEN JUBILEE

Preparations are under way for KAT’s 50th Golden Jubilee on Sunday 1 November 2009.

KAT has had its 2009 production of Twelfth Night accepted as part of the Compleate Workes Shakespeare Celebration Project. This project aims to have all Shakespeare’s plays performed in New Zealand during 2009.

NEW STORAGE SPACE

Big thank you to Ross and Barry for installing shelving in the storage space under the Ngaio Union Church. Thanks also to all those involved in shifting the items out of the container and organising the new space.

WELLINGTON DISTRICT FESTIVAL OF COMMUNITY THEATRE

Ross Foubister and the District Committee are organising this in our hall on Saturday 24 May at 7.30pm. Ticket sales are $15 at the door.
