Enclosed you will find a flier designed by Keith Hambleton for you to promote our final production of the year. If you receive this newsletter by email you can download the attached poster – pity you can’t see the vibrant Kelly green it is printed on! Put the flier in your car window or hand it to a friend to encourage them to come. Make up a party and book your tickets with Marj Lawson 972 6180. Tickets are $15 or $12 concession and can be picked up at the door. Or go to the Pharmacy in the Village and buy them in advance.

Casting was completed after the last newsletter with the addition of Marcus Lawson, Marj’s son to the cast . It could be 15 years since he last acted with us so we are very happy to welcome him back. Here’s a photo of a very happy director and cast!

The set of Dancing at Lughnasa has been designed by Warwick Janes and it’s definitely outside the square. Fitting dancing in a kitchen and garden onto our little stage was difficult so Warwick has the house side protruding towards the audience. We’re into innovation at KAT; think of the corner set for Twelve Angry Men and the promenade setting in the middle of the hall for Under Milk Wood.

Have you looked at our website lately? There you will see photos of the production ably taken by Debbie Sidelinger at the Colonial Cottage museum. If you haven’t got access to the internet you can see Khandallah displays at New World, the Pharmacy and in the library. Other libraries too including upstairs at Central have photos on display. Roadside signs are in place, advertisements have appeared in Citylife North and West, the Capital Times and The Wellingtonian. Look out for copy and photos in these papers too. But what really sells a show is word of mouth and that is where members and friends are so important. Tell everyone about our great production!

The winning play from the Wellington District Festival of Community Theatre held in our hall, Nobody’s Fool by Annie Millard from Wellington High School went on to win the ultimate prize at the National Final in Palmerston North, the Book of Honour as well as numerous other prizes. We congratulate the three young men who brought an innovative script about Shakespeare’s Fools to life.

The Antoinettes
